'Biota'
Biota is a project that began with an idea to take a close up look at the wild flowers that flourish in the South Downs National Park. It quickly developed into a series of photographs that capture the plants and animals of the region in their natural habitat, life that is easy to overlook as it exists in minute detail.
The images often distort scale and remind us how fragile nature, and our relationship with it, is. The use of the cyanotype process creates a further sense of distance from reality but also conveys and deepens a sense of tranquillity.
